- Made lots of progress today...

I've been very busy, what with the Super Bowl, and everything else going on. I was pretty sick today, but spent some time on the car anyway. I had ordered QUITE a few pieces off a person who was parting out a Porsche on RennList. It just so happened that his car was ALSO an 84, and had a black interior. As I explained a few times before, the previous owner (not the guy in the Navy, the one from Georgia) spray painted the entire interior with gloss-black enamel. He basically destroyed everything. I have been forced to replace about 90% of the interior. What I purchased from this guy on RennList so far is: dash, passenger door panel, center console, upper console, turn / wiper stalk, and a COMPLETE "heated" headlight washer system (which requires the replacement of the front bumper). I'm pretty psyched! I've received about half of the pieces and made significant headway today. What I completed today was: 1) Completed the finishing touches on the passenger side carpet. It required a bit of cutting and fitting, but the carpet is now perfectly contoured to the floorboards and foot well. I've also installed the side carpeting for the section forward of the passenger side door in the footwell. The seat is also bolted down, and all the finishing trim-work installed. 2) I've also installed the NEW (used) black dash, and the A-pillar trim-work. You can see in the example (FIRST picture) how horrible the dash was. In the 2nd picture, you can see the new dash, MUCH better. 3) I also installed a completely new ignition lock, lock cyl, lock switch, and lock coupler (w/ new steering lock and bearing). I don't have to "jump" the starter to the battery anymore!!! There are some other things on hold until I can get some other pieces, but I started hooking back up some of the switches while I was at it. You see the two switches at the bottom side of the drivers side of the dash. Those are replacements... the previous owner had sprayed completely over them with BLACK spray paint. A few other things to mention, I repaired the passenger side door moisture barrier. It looks aweful, but it's actually WHOLE now. The previous owner had ripped it to pieces. I used spray adhesive to re-affix it completely over the door. I also took the opportunity to repair the sound deadener in the door, and spray some rubberized undercoating (which works as sound deadener as well). Before I can install the new passenger door panel, I'll need the new Blaupunkt speakers. Oh yeah, I also installed a new rear-hatch release motor, cable, and relay!
