1983 Volvo 240 Turbo Wagon
My parents bought this car new in 1983. I can still remember the day that my dad was going to bring it home. I was a big fan of
Duke's of Hazzard, and for whatever reason, I had expected my father to drive home in what I now know as a mid 70s Cadillac Edlorado
convertible with a huge pair of bull's horns attached to the grill. Imagine my surprise when my dad came home in this Volvo station
wagon...

The family car...
Although this never really was "MY" car, I did drive it frequently growing up, and I've spent quite a bit of time working on it
(including a timing belt change). Unfortnuately, most of the pictures are actual photographs, so I'll need to scan them in.
I'll get around to it one of these days. In the mean time, I have some pictures that I took of the Volvo a few days before we sold it.
We finally sold the car in early 2006. The Volvo was already 23 years old and had over 180 thousand miles on it. It's actually
pretty amazing what great condition the car was in despite it's age and mileage.

There it goes...
The new owner came by today to pick up the car. It's really sad to see it go, but I'm happy that it's going to a
family that will be driving it. My dad took these two pictures of the car as the owner drove away... UPDATE:
The person who apparently bought the car and hauled it home, never did anything with it. He kept it in a garage
and never attempted to fix it. Another guy bought the car, got it running again, and called my parents for a copy of the
title. Looks like it's back on the road again as of January of 2010.
